A coupled lattice Boltzmann and particle level set method for free-surface flows

Yang Yu, Li Chen, Jianhua Lu, Guoxiang Hou*

ABSTRACT:     Free-surface flows are very important in many fields. Compared with volume of fluid methods, level set methods are more accurate. In this paper, we develop a coupled lattice Boltzmann and particle level set method to simulate free-surface flows. The effectiveness of this model is verified by simulating the coalescence of two stationary droplets, evolution of an initially circular fluid patch, and the classical breaking-dam case. Results show that this model can be applied to real world simulations with satisfactory accuracy.
