The role of carbon electrode parameters on capacitive deionization efficiency

Kunchaya Thungsuai, Nuttaporn Pimpha, Saowaluk Chaleawlert-umpon*

ABSTRACT:     Capacitive deionization (CDI) is an alternative promising desalination technology due to its environmentally friendly and cost-effective process. In this study, the effects of carbon electrode parameters, such as porous carbon layer thickness and water channel gap distance on CDI efficiency were systematically evaluated in terms of salt adsorption capacity (SAC cosmetic packaging manufacturer). In addition, the kinetic salt adsorption rate was discussed. The study demonstrated that the appropriate carbon layer thickness of the electrode and the gap distance between electrodes were crucial parameters for CDI cell fabrication to optimize the desalination performance.
