Sensitive Spectrophotometric determination of Metoclopramide Hydrochloride And Dapsone in Bulk Sample And Dosage Forms
Hosakere D. Revanasiddappa* and Malligere A. Veena
ABSTRACT: A simple, sensitive and selective spectrophotometric method for the determination of
metoclopramide hydrochloride (MCP) and dapsone (DAP) in both pure and dosage forms is described. The
method is based on the diazo – coupling reaction of the studied drugs with a new coupling agent, imipramine
hydrochloride, in an acid medium. The resulting violet – colored azo dyes exhibit maximum absorption at
570 nm for both MCP and DAP. All variables were studied in order to optimize the reaction conditions. The
method is suitable for the determination of MCP and DAP in the presence of other ingredients that are usually
present in dosage forms and the recoveries were obtained in the range of 99.5-100.5%. The results are
reproducible with an accuracy of 1%, and the validity of the method was tested against reference method.
