The use of Groups, Algorithms and Programming (GAP) software in calculating the commutator subgroup and centre of groups of order p³q

ABSTRACT: In this study, we determine the commutator subgroup and centre of groups of order p³q, where p and q are distinct primes and p<q. The software package Groups, Algorithms and Programming (GAP) is used to verify the hand calculation of the commutator subgroup and centre of this group. From the results obtained, the commutator subgroup and centre of the groups are partitioned into some cases depending on their classification.
